Vtiger Field Calculation Step-by-Step Guide

Vtiger is a powerful CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software that allows you to manage and automate various aspects of your business. One of its useful features is Field Calculation, which enables you to perform calculations and automate data entry in custom fields. This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to use Vtiger’s Field Calculation feature.

Before you start using Field Calculation in Vtiger, ensure the following:

  1. Access to Vtiger: You need to have access to a Vtiger CRM account.

Step 1: Log in to Vtiger

  1. Open your preferred web browser.

  2. Go to the Vtiger CRM login page.

  3. Enter your credentials (username and password) and click “Login” to access your Vtiger CRM account.

Step 2: Navigate to Module Customization

Field Calculation is a feature that allows you to customize specific modules in your CRM. Follow these steps to access Module Customization:

  1. In the Vtiger dashboard, locate and click on the “Settings” or “Cog” icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. From the dropdown menu, select “CRM Settings.”

  3. In the CRM Settings page, find and click on “Module Management.”

  4. Under Module Management, click on “Module Customization.”

Choose the module in which you want to create a calculated field. For example, you can create a calculated field in the “Contacts” or “Opportunities” module.

  1. Click on the module name where you want to create the calculated field.

Step 4: Create a New Field

To create a calculated field, you need to add a new field to the module. Follow these steps:

  1. In the Module Customization page, click on the “Fields” tab.

  2. Click the “Add Custom Field” button.

  3. Fill in the field details, including the field label, field name (system name), and field type. For calculated fields, choose “Formula” as the field type.

  4. Click “Save” to create the new field.

Step 5: Define the Calculation Formula

Now that you’ve created the calculated field, it’s time to define the calculation formula.

  1. Locate the newly created field in the Fields list, and click on it to open its settings.

  2. In the field settings, you will see a section for “Formula.” Enter your calculation formula here using available fields and operators. For example, you can create a formula that calculates the total revenue by multiplying the “Quantity” field with the “Price” field.

  3. Click “Save” to save the formula.

Step 6: Configure Field Mapping

After defining the formula, you need to configure the field mapping. This step links the calculated field to the relevant fields in the module.
